Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) did NEET UG 2026 The counseling process has undergone several significant and student-friendly changes. These new rules aim to simplify the medical admission process, making it easier, more transparent, and reducing hassle for students and parents.
If you or someone in your family is participating in NEET UG counselling this year, then it becomes very important to know about these 3 major changes.
1. Physical reporting is not required for seat upgrade
Earlier, if students got a seat in any round and chose ‘Upgradation’ for a better college/seat in the next round, they still had to go to that college and do physical reporting.
But now under the rule, If you have got a seat and you choose to upgrade in the next round, then you will not need to go to the allotted college in person to submit the documents or report. Your seat will be secured in the counselling system and you will be able to participate in the next round easily.
2. Online seat resignation
If a student wanted to leave the allotted seat for any reason, then earlier he had to visit the college for this.
But Under the new rule, Now students can surrender or resign their seats online from the official portal of MCC within the stipulated time limit.
3. Online Upload of NRI Quota Documents
Earlier, students applying under NRI quota in Deemed Universities had to make separate efforts for verification of documents.
But Under the new rule, Now, students applying under the NRI quota can upload all their required documents directly online on the MCC counselling portal.

MCC has directed the counselling authorities and medical colleges of all states and union territories to provide correct information about their seat matrix, available seats and college fees on the portal, so that students can make correct and wise decisions.
